CHAPTER ELEVEN
THREE VARYING APPROACHES TO ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE
APHORISM #1: The three major religions that arise out of the Veda are Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
APHORISM #2: Hinduism discusses Ultimate and conventional truth primarily in terms of the subject or knower of knowledge. Thus, for Shankara, all is The Self.
APHORISM #3: Buddhism discusses Ultimate and conventional truth primarily in terms of the known or object of knowledge. Thus, for Nagarjuna, all objects are Empty.
APHORISM #4: Janism discusses Ultimate and conventional truth primarily in terms of the process of knowing giving equal weight to the knower and the known. Thus, for Mahavira, reality includes all relative perspectives and their Basis.
APHORISM #5: Much confusion can be avoided in trying to reconcile these various teachings if one keeps these distinctions in mind.
APHORISM #6: The Art of Multi-Dimensional Living ® incorporates the perspectives of all three of these archetypal teachings.
APHORISM #7: Other religions can be analyzed in a similar way.
APHORISM #8: I would like to think that the principles of all the major religions can be reconciled with the principles of The Art of Multi-Dimensional Living ®.
