3-1-98 KONRAD ADENAUER

Adolf Hitler (see prior article) was responsible for not only the devastation of Germany's land and resources, but also the psychology of her people. Thus, it was vital for new German heroes, like Konrad Adenauer, to arise out of the ashes to erase the memory of Hitler and the complicity of the German people in carrying out his mad vision.

Adenauer was a man with one sole desire: to restore the vitality of his nation (West Germany) and bring about her eventual reunification with East Germany. He was totally devoted to this divine and paternal duty and carried it out in the spirit of Karma Yoga, the path of selfless service and giving. This path calls for non- attachment to the fruit of action with simultaneous keen attention to the performance of the activity so that it becomes a form of sacred ritual.

Adenauer's caste nature was that of a Vaishya, enabling him to be particularly suited to the task of rebuilding Germany's economic and financial institutions. Normally, it is the role of the Warrior caste to rule a nation, however, in this case, a strong Vaishya was needed, first, to bring Germany out of economic ruin and on that platform, to slowly generate new forms of democratic rule suitable to a humbled German people.

Individuals, like Adenauer, who are driven by a spirit of selfless service, often do not receive their full due. Let this article stand as a tribute to the great contributions of Konrad Adenauer to the reconstruction of post-war Germany.
