The eighth house gives an understanding of past, present and future births and their interrelationships. Cayce had many planets located in this house including those governing his spiritual and career nature. The career planet, Saturn, was extremely strong and as Saturn governs sleep state and the eighth house, past and future births, what resulted was a man who became the world’s most famous sleeping prophet.

Many of Cayce’s planets were also in the sign of Aquarius and he was able to use the higher spiritual frequencies of this sign (universal brotherhood) to help humanity in ways we are only beginning to fully understand and appreciate. Cayce had full access to the Akashic Record while in a trance like state. He not only remembered nothing of what he had spoken about in this state, but he was often shocked by the implications of what he had said. For example, when, in one of his sessions, he began to speak of reincarnation, it disturbed his conscious self because of his Christian fundamentalist background and leanings, and it took him a long time to reconcile himself to this occult fact.

Although some modern Anthroposophists embarrass themselves in their attempts to apply Steiner’s teachings to the modern world, there are a few significant exceptions. Magda Lissau, Kurt Nelson and Rick Spaulding have written an article in the Journal of Anthroposophy entitled The Christian Path of Edgar Cayce: A Possible Aspect of Michael’s Activity in America that accurately portrays Cayce’s esoteric role in relationship to the activity of the archangel Michael. Michael is a solar archangel who acts as the great integrating force in world evolution and Cayce taught and operated out of this stream of spiritual evolution. Whether Cayce consciously acknowledged this relationship with Michael I do not know, but his work certainly served the Michael force.
