3-27-98 DANE RUDHYAR

This esteemed gentleman is sometimes referred to as the dean of modern western astrology. He was a true renaissance man skilled not only in interpreting astrological principles, but also in contributing to a deeper understanding of music, culture and applied philosophy. He was a prolific writer and his teachings in astrology, holistic living and the spiritual quest are still popular today.

Through use of the principles of The Art of Multi-Dimensional Living, it is apparent that Rudhyar possessed an extremely high state of consciousness oriented towards the creative process and its unfoldment. This kind of exalted consciousness is keenly aware of the stratifications within human existence and also that physical matter is only an appearance. Matter is the gross expression of the primal energy which is being explored by modern day quantum physicists, and subtler than this energy is mind. In other words, the metaphysical trail moves from the known (matter) to the process of knowing (energy) to the knower (mind). Finite individual mind has its source in Cosmic Mind. Evidence for these facts lies in a true science of the stars, which demonstrates that everything is a manifestation of intelligence, that we live in a mental universe! This is why materialists breathe a sigh of relief every time conventional astrology is debunked; intuitively, they know that astrological evidence is also evidence of an universe governed by Mind.

Rudhyar's cognitions of universal intelligence were his motivations to demonstrate the validity and value of astrology. He made it a life mission to awaken the general public to the potential of astrology as an interdisciplinary tool of knowledge.. All of Rudhyar's writings have merit , but they lack the fundamental insights which result from the discovery of the true science of the stars. He never actually rediscovered the true science of the stars!

Other modern day vedic and western astrologers are also bereft of this fundamental insight.. They often have a great deal of scholarly knowledge and can wax eloquently about the meaning of this or that planet, sign, house or aspect. What they can't do is apply these principles in the way originally prescribed by the sages of old. This is very confusing to the general public. They think if a man can write a whole book on, say, the significations of Jupiter, certainly he is capable of practicing a true and complete form of astrology. My suggestion that he cannot do so raises more doubts in their mind about me than it does about the astrologer I am critiquing. Thus, we see the plight of the first person of our modern age to have rediscovered the true science of the stars in The Art of Multi-Dimensional Living.
