is evaluated in terms of the size of his or her following. Yet
tradition has it that Lao-Tze, who gave the world one of its most
sophisticated and important spiritual teachings, became so discouraged
by the lack of recognition and acceptance of his teaching that
he just walked away from it all and disappeared.
