1-12-1998: ABRAHAM LINCOLN

This great leader is revered as much today as when he lived. Those historians who seek to attack him in some way never seem to get very far. Why is this the case? Why do some people maintain wonderful reputations even when not so upright, when other more righteous people suffer poor reputations?

This whole arena is governed by the field of living I call mental health. I am not using this term in the same way as modern psychologists do. As I use the term, mental health refers to our capacity to project our vital or energy body towards any objective in order to be successful and influential. Lincoln had a powerful, Venusian energy body. He was tireless in pursuing his objectives, which, most often, related to issues of power (Mars). If hindered or defeated in some way, he delighted in overcoming this obstacle and could do so with great skill.

It is our energy body which primarily determines how people initially view us. Individuals with a weak energy body often fail to win the confidence of others despite their many talents, because they appear imbalanced or scattered in some way not always easy for the observer to define, but easy to sense nevertheless.

With Lincoln and others with strong energy bodies, the opposite is the case. Even if they have glaring faults in some arena of their life, their overall reputation with the public will remain unsullied. Thus, even with our present love of scandal and controversy, we are not likely to try and bring down Abe Lincoln. He has a protective shield around him, even though he passed away long ago.
