3-23-98 MOTHER THERESA

In the traditions of the far-east we hear of "idiot saints": individuals who become spiritually enlightened, but who lack the relative knowledge and skills to effectively interact with the world. Mother Theresa was the exact opposite, gifted with a powerful physical, vital and emotional nature and more than capable of transposing spiritual experience into dynamic, effective action.

Mother Theresa was an exemplary Karma Yogini, who engaged in the purest form of selfless service to those with the most dire needs, India's untouchables.. The key to Karma Yoga is IMPERSONAL service -- one let's nature select where help is most needed and then responds without any attachment to the fruit of action; it becomes selfless sacrifice and a sacred offering.. Mother Theresa did this so impeccably that she was a source of constant inspiration to those around her.

Karma Yoga is also the path of religion and it was easy for Mother Theresa to serve the Roman Catholic Church as effortlessly as she served the poor.

Mother Theresa was a modern day saint and I find it interesting that she chose to leave the world while Princess Diana's fatal car crash was capturing all the headlines. Humble to the last!
