Description 3Client is a client application to the 3Sentry. It’s primary purpose is to link Essbase users anywhere on the network to Essbase server information. For general users this means knowing the state of the Essbase server (whether it is "up or "down"), the load on the server and receiving system administrator messages. For system administrators, this means freedom! Administrators get all the functionality of a general user plus, from anywhere on the network , full access to the Essbase console, the ability to re-start Essbase and user messaging. This eliminates geographic restrictions previously imposed on the Essbase administrator. In turn, 3Client can be a client of 3Director (see 3Director). General users (and the system administrator) can: Monitor the state of an Essbase server Determine whether the server is "up" or "down". Check the average load on the server. System administrators can: Start (invoke) Essbase. 3Sentry allows Essbase to be started from 3Client at a remote location. This is significant in the NT environment where you currently have to be at the system console to start Essbase. This eliminates the requirement that the system administrator be physically located at the computer hosting Essbase to start it. Interact with the console of the invoked Essbase server. Interact with an Essbase server’s console from a location other than the machine on which Essbase is running. Send any console command including "quit". Send messages to users of a server Administrators who a running 3Client themselves can be send a text message.
